Then, if the people have the more holidays due to the 4+3, 7-day work system, isn't it boosting the gambling business?

75. 사행산업통합감독위원회의 자료에 따르면 경마·경륜·경정의 총 매출이 5년 전(前)인 2007년에 약 9조1,900억원에서 작년 2011년에는 약 12조원으로 크게 상승했다고 합니다. 한국일보의 2012년 10월 16일자에 보도된 기사에 따르면 거주지 주변에 사행산업의 장외 발매소가 들어서게 되면서 집에서 걸어갈 수 있는 거리에서 쉽게 도박을 즐길 수 있게 된데다 도박장 내에 현금인출기까지 설치되어 사행사업을 부추기고 있다고 전했습니다. 그렇다면 주 4+3근무제 7일경제가 도입될 경우 휴일이 늘게 되어 이러한 사행산업의 발달을 부추기는 작용을 하지 않을까요?

경마∙경륜∙경정은 국민이 재미있게 즐기면서 우승자를 맞추는 경기들입니다. 여기서 벌어들인 기금으로 여러 필요한 분들에게 나누어 주는 취지의 사행산업인데, 많은 실직자, 은퇴자, 돈벌이가 적은 분들이 한탕으로 돈을 벌려고 하다 보니 매년 매출이 수천 억원씩 늘어나고 있어요, 일자리가 없고 생활하기가 어려운 경제적 불황에서 이런 사행성 도박에 빠지기 쉬운 법이죠. 정부나 기업이 그들에게 일자리를 만들어 일할 수 있도록 하고, 임금을 준다면 사행성 도박에서 멀어질 것입니다.

The horse racing, the cycle racing, and the boat racing are the gambling sports for the people by the government. The intention is to share the incomes of the gambling business. But the many unemployed, retirees, and those less lucrative are in a get-rich-quick fever. They easily get addicted into this kind of business in the recession. But if the government creates more jobs and they get more incomes, they wouldn’t be in a get-rich-quick fever anymore.
